Moulin Rouge revolutionized live entertainment in Paris with the introduction of the modern French Cancan. The history of Moulin Rouge dates back to 1889 when it was founded by Charles Zidler and Joseph Oller, who wished to create a world-class venue for entertainment. Today, Moulin Rouge is synonymous with the best of Parisian Cabaret and has patrons from across the world. The show has a talented and stunningly beautiful cast of over 80 performers who sing, dance, and perform crazy feats to entertain you! It is over the top and not at all apologetic about all the glitz, glamour and fun, it’s one endless extravaganza of beauty and talent.
Moulin Rouge is located in the heart of Paris and is easily recognizable by the iconic windmill outside the venue. Inside, the huge 800 seater hall is spread across in levels with seats focused towards the large stage. The decor is predominantly red and gold, lending a sumptuous atmosphere to the venue.
The Feerie Show is a revue of exciting acts that bring together the best of live entertainment. Over 80 artists, including 60 Doriss Girls make this show come alive. The show is famous for its extravagant sets and vivid costumes with rhinestones, sequins and feathers.
The show is divided into five acts – The Moulin Rouge Today and Yesterday (Introduction of the dancers), The Pirates (An Asian fantasy), Au Cirque (Circus acts with acrobats, jugglers and animals), The Moulin Rouge from 1900 to now, and International Acts (Features gymnasts). All the acts are accompanied by a medley of music, singing and stage theatrics.
Miss Doris was the choreographer of the show at Moulin Rouge and was key behind putting Moulin Rouge on the world map! The dancers she selected went on to be known as the Doriss Girls as they were trained in the art of French Cancan and were extremely talented and beautiful. Today they are the heart and soul of the Feerie show!
