The legacy of Paradis Latin shows

Founding and early years

Opened in 1803 as Théâtre Latin, Paradis Latin quickly became a cultural hotspot for Paris' intellectual elite, frequented by figures like Balzac and Dumas. After a devastating fire during the Franco-Prussian War, the theater lay in ruins for 17 years before being rebuilt by Gustave Eiffel in 1889, marking its revival.

Rising from the ashes

Reopened in 1889, Paradis Latin regained its stature as a premier entertainment venue. In 1977, artistic director Jean-Marie Rivière revitalized the space with modern renovations and fresh shows like Paris Paradis, bringing new life to the cabaret and attracting millions of spectators.

A stage for legends

Paradis Latin has staged iconic performances like Paris Paradis (1977), Hello Paradis (1987), and L’Oiseau Paradis (2019). These groundbreaking shows blended traditional cabaret with modern artistry, ensuring the venue’s place at the forefront of the Parisian entertainment scene.

A cultural epicenter

More than just a theater, Paradis Latin has been a gathering space for artists, intellectuals, and tourists. It embodies the spirit of Parisian creativity and joie de vivre, enhanced by its focus on fine French cuisine alongside world-class performances.

Legacy of resilience

Paradis Latin’s legacy is one of resilience and transformation. Despite setbacks, it continues to evolve while staying true to its roots. Today, under new ownership, it remains a cultural icon, blending history with innovation to celebrate Parisian art and entertainment.
